Meet our tutors

  • Patty Harte - BIO

Following PGCE training, I taught English at the same secondary school for almost a decade, taking on different responsibilities within the faculty and becoming Head of English there. I observed that the students who found it easiest to achieve higher grades were frequently the ones most willing to pick up a book and read. Since then, I like to encourage students to discover where their own tastes and interests will take them and I am never without a book to turn to myself.

I have had an interesting and varied career in education. After just two years in teaching, I became the Head of Science in a large, central London state school. I've taught double and triple science upto GCSE and Biology and Chemistry unto A2. After working in London, I became an education consultant working on education reforms in Qatar (4 years) and Abu Dhabi for (2 years). I have helped train Science, Maths and ICT teachers in all aspects of teaching and pedagogy. I have a 2.1 Hons in Physiology and a PGCE in Science education (Specialism Biology) both from King's College, University of London. In my spare time I've learned to play the piano and guitar, to speak French, Arabic and Italian and to scuba dive. I also trade on the Stock Exchange and have had many foreign holidays.

I am qualified as an-English and Drama secondary school teacher and I have plenty of experience in both the educational and industrial sectors. My career’s concentration on development and learning has taken place within a variety of cultural contexts giving me the skills and values of immediate relevance to coaching and tuition. I have retained a deep interest in both literature and history since leaving university enriched through direct exposure to French and Italian culture. My home is in London. I love living in the city but I also enjoy getting away from it all on cycling and walking breaks.
